Koi Stadia Teabox #2

Koi Stadia Teabox #2

$3,950.00

A truly unique piece of art, the Koi Stadia Tea-Box. A collaboration between Paul Jasper of Copper Pig Woodworking with master pyrography artist Jennifer DiArenzo, bringing the finest of their respective fields together into one piece, blurring the line between fine art and function. This tea box begins with the finest wood, extraordinary Quilted Maple, which formed a canvas for the Japanese-inspired Koi fish pond hand engraved in pyrography by Jen. In this particular piece, the fish form an implied yin yang, symbolism of how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world. In keeping with the Japanese theme, the interior of the box is inlaid in copper in the most classic Japanese Asanoha pattern. This piece includes 3 Stadia boxes for loose-leaf tea storage, each with unique lid art. Within the interior of the box, solid copper bars span left to right forming a divider network for tea-bag storage. The interior wooden dividers are torched and treated with walnut oil, in the tradition of the Yakisugi technique, forming a wonderfully rich and dark interior. The bottom of the box will include a hand engraved dedication to your family as we expect this to be passed down through generations as a treasured heirloom.
